General
Suzuki violin uses the 'mother tongue approach'. This means that reading is delayed and they first learn violin the same way they learn a language. Parents are more involved in this initial process. The Suzuki approach also focuses on group classes, having a positive and nurturing environment
In traditional methods, students are asked to begin note reading as soon as learning to hold the violin, which can accrue bad habits and rigid technique.
